How Do I Optimize My Web Site?

Everyone these days knows about the importance of SEO for a web site owner. Today we are going to look at a few important things that can make or break your search engine rankings.

First things first, you need to decide whether you want to compete with others in your niche, or choose keywords that drive traffic, but are not highly competitive. For example if your site is related to banking sector then a few commonly used keywords used are Student Loan or Bank Loan or Equity Loan. These are highly competitive keywords, so instead you may look at re-arranging the words, so instead of student loan, maybe loan student. A number of Top SEO Consultants or Optimizers always suggest the Site owners to choose one primary keyword that appears in the domain or Sub domain name of their website and use that keyword within your site content. There are many free SEO tools to help you do this properly.

For multiple keywords, one can use hyphens to create URL’s with names such as seo-services, seo-help, seo-you-site etc.

The other approach will be using the other important keywords in the file name & directory name.
Remember a Search engine does not like pages that have many errors. To keep the WebPages free from errors, one should declare the type of document at the beginning & also should validate the CSS & HTML Coding.

When putting together your meta tags, you want a good title, it is good to have a descriptive tag, incorporating your keywords. As this will be displayed in the search engine results, one should choose the words carefully.

Also, don’t over look the highly important H or heading tags when it comes to SEO.So, make sure to include important keywords in that tags.But, make sure that it does have any similarity with the title of the page.

Get into the habit of using like phrases and words to compliment your keywords throughout the content of your pages. It is important to use your keywords, plus complimentary phrases for the words you wish to rank well for.

If your site has images on it, you can make use of tags for the search engines to better index your pictures.

Try to avoid the use of too much flash in your site design; it will slow down the site speed. Instead, try to focus on having good, high quality original content. Make sure that the site does not get spammed; else it may lead to decline in getting the proper page ranking in the search engines.
